Jutte Jutsu (十手術): Natural movement with the Japanese truncheon

We'll be introducing Jutte as our training theme for the next quarter with this one-day workshop. The focus will be "Mute no Jutte", meaning, "The 'no-hands' (無手, Mute）of '10 hands' (十手, Jutte)." Hatsumi Sensei said that the Jutte should be practised with the feeling of Mute - that is, the Jutte should be handled as such a smooth, natural extension of the body that the practitioner is almost unaware of it.

Chōtan Sesshō (長短折衝): Negotiating Distance with Sword and Kunai
In line with our Dōjō training theme for 2026, this seminar will deal with the Taijutsu of Sword and Kunai. With the sword being longer (長) and the Kunai shorter (短), the negotiation (折衝) of distance between these two weapons will be our theme of study for the day.

Bujinkan Gray Dōjō 25th Anniversary Training Festival
Join us in celebrating our Dōjō's 25th anniversary!
Founded in Ibaraki, Japan on 1 July 2000 under the sanction of Hatsumi Sensei and Shiraishi Sensei, our Dōjō has always been a place where good people come together to study the Bujinkan arts. Time flies when you're having fun, and it's now already time to celebrate 25 years! Join us in Featherston for a day of training, catching up with buyū friends, and sharing in the festivities.

It was a pleasure to demonstrate "the beauty of kobudo" at the invitation of the Upper Hutt Multicultural Council for their Matariki event last Friday evening. Our demo included Ukemi, 1-on-1 Taijutsu and Jō / Sword / Kusari (Chain), as well as the Kyoketsu Shōge. The Deputy Mayor referred to our demo as "impressive". Many thanks to everyone for the positive feedback!

Koppoujutsu Striking Skills
Join us for a day of exploring Koppōjutsu - the "Bone Method Techniques" of the Bujinkan - with Shihan Alan McGregor (Bujinkan Whangarei Dōjō) and Daishihan Shawn Gray (Bujinkan Gray Dōjō). Commonly rendered simply as "striking", Koppō refers to so much more, teaching us that there's often a certain knack to getting something to work properly. This one-day workshop with two of NZ's senior Bujinkan teachers is geared for all experience levels - newbies and advanced grades alike.
